Telenor IoT and PLAATO Announce their Collaboration to AI enable production data in Brewing and Fermentation based Industries

Telenor IoT today announced a collaboration with PLAATO, a startup on a mission to simplify access to production data from control systems and smart data capture from sensor technologies.

The partnership aims to transform the brewing industry, distilling industry and other fermentation-based industries by providing its’ operators with advanced real-time insights and connectivity solutions to increase production efficiency, product quality and increase resource utilization.

Since 2021, PLAATO has built leading industrial software and sensor products. The team consists of technology professionals across Europe and the US and has seen global traction since the start. Today they serve over 300 customers across more than 35 countries.

With PLAATO, a brewer can produce more beer with less stress, time, and effort. They can see the end-to-end production data in a unified platform, which has not been easily available until now. This gives them access to the complete story of their beer and helps keep any recipe “on track” during production. With increasing investments into AI and analytics, PLAATO offers deep insights into brewery performance, keeps track of productivity initiatives and also plans to enable industry peer-group benchmarking to help identify improvement opportunities.

For the connectivity part, Telenor IoT was selected to provide IoT Complete, an entire IoT infrastructure end-to-end solution handled in one place. As PLAATO customers utilize PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) across several parts of their production facility, using different types of equipment and protocols, Telenor IoT’s IoT Complete service has helped to translate these varied control system setups into a standardized format that PLAATO’s software application can utilize. This way PLAATO now offers breweries unique production data and insights, without big investments in custom equipment.

“We have worked on this project since September 2024, making rapid progress in developing and implementing these solutions. This demonstrates the efficiency of the collaboration, but also the power or IoT Complete – it truly is a plug and play solution that shortens the product development cycle drastically”, says Niklas Agerhem, Head of IoT Complete at Telenor IoT.

“When we first met the Telenor IoT team, we were in the early stages of developing a similar solution. However, we quickly realized the complexity of building such a flexible platform from the ground up. Partnering with Telenor IoT made perfect sense – they had already mastered the critical challenge of connectivity. PLAATO is a data and insights company, and this collaboration allows us to focus entirely on what we do best: building the industry’s leading platform for production monitoring, analytics and optimization,” says Magnus Valmot, CEO of PLAATO.

The newly launched PLAATO Edge provides unparalleled insights into the production processes of breweries, distilleries and over time other fermentation-based industries. By seamlessly combining data acquisition, connectivity, and a leading Manufacturing Execution System, it delivers a true end-to-end solution for analyzing quality and efficiency across every stage of production. PLAATO’s customers value its intuitive interface, clear and powerful visualizations, deeper insights and the ability to stay connected to their operations – anytime, anywhere.
