A Delta Air Lines regional jet crashed upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday afternoon, appearing to have overturned on the runway.

At least nine people were injured, multiple reports stated.

CNBC has reported 15 people were injured.

All passengers and crew were accounted for, the airport stated, while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Flight operations at the airport were temporarily halted.

“Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis,” the airport posted on X on Monday afternoon.

Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 departed from Minneapolis before landing in Toronto.

All 80 people on board the CRJ-900 regional jet were evacuated after the accident, CNBC reported citing the Federal Aviation Administration.

Peel Regional Paramedic Services reported that two people were airlifted in critical condition.

The aircraft had 80 passengers on board, as stated in a social media post by Canadian Transport Minister Anita Anand.

The plane landed in Toronto on Monday amid windy and freezing conditions.

Television footage showed the aircraft flipped onto its roof on the runway, with what appeared to be smoke billowing from its underside.

The incident occurred on an already busy travel day at Pearson, as the airport managed approximately 1,000 flights and 130,000 travelers amid a winter storm that brought more than eight inches of snow to the region.

The crash follows recent concerns over air safety, including a fatal midair collision in January involving a regional jet and a military helicopter near Washington, DC.
