Altcoins surge as CAKE, S, and LDO lead the crypto market rebound

by February 13, 2025
written by February 13, 2025

PancakeSwap (CAKE), Sonic prev. Fantom (S) and Lido DAO (LDO) are the top gainers among 100 largest cryptocurrencies by market cap.

CAKE price has spiked more than 40% in the past 24 hours, while S and LDO have notched +17% and +12% to rank among best performing altcoins today.

Meanwhile, the crypto market cap hovered around $3.19 trillion and the global trading volume was up more than 32% at $134 billion.

Here’s the crypto price update for February 13 during European trading hours.

BTC price wedged below $100k

Gains for several altcoins during the European session on February 13 came as Bitcoin price continued to consolidate below $100k.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin dominance had dropped to 59.9%, with BTC price around $96,254.

Ethereum price changed hands above $2,600, up 3.5% in the past 24 hours – compared to 0.24% for Bitcoin.

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) had dipped amid market reaction to US CPI data released on Wednesday.

However, the top coin reversed the trend and hit highs above $98k. If bulls fail to break higher, bears could target a retest of $92k.

But what are analysts saying?

“”The time to buy is when there’s blood in the streets!” After a hotter-than-expected CPI print, markets plunged as the Fed is now expected to delay its first rate cut until December. Now, all eyes are on Trump’s response to the higher CPI print. Will he pressure the Fed to cut rates sooner, or will he let them remain data-dependent?” analysts at QCP Capital quipped in market commentary published on February 13.

BNB leads top 10 coins

Among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap, the biggest gainer in the past 24 hours was BNB (BNB).

The Binance coin broke above $710 and traded +8.8% at the time of writing. Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA) and Tron (TRX) however traded negative.

All three had seen slight losses of between 1% and 2%, with SOL price at $193; ADA $0.78 and TRX $0.23.

XRP, Litecoin and Dogecoin have also been in the news and in social media chatter amid events around spot crypto ETFs.

CAKE, S and LDO price update today

The total crypto liquidations per Coinglass data in the past 24 hours currently stands at $313 million. It means a 38% spike in liquidated positions.

PancakeSwap (CAKE), Official Trump (TRUMP) and BNB (BNB) are among those to see significant pain for shorts.

TRUMP had over $4.8 million in bearish bets on the meme coin wiped out in the past 12 hours. CAKE and BNB recorded more than $1.5 million in liquidated positions.

These liquidations came as PancakeSwap, Binance coin and the Trump meme coin rose.

Per CoinMarketCap, CAKE topped the list of top 100 by market cap as price shot up more than 8% to trade $2.99.

Sonic (previously Fantom), is another altcoin to show strong performance on Thursday.

S rose more than 17% and traded near $0.56. Meanwhile, Lido DAO price hit $1.78 with gains accounting for a 13% uptick in 24 hours.
