written by January 21, 2025

Following Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration, the cryptocurrency market has experienced a mix of price actions.

Bitcoin (BTC) has managed to maintain its position above the $101K mark, while meme coins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Official Trump (TRUMP) have been facing price declines.

The global cryptocurrency market cap has slumped around 1%, reaching $3.51 trillion.

The decline comes as Trump chose not to mention cryptocurrencies in his inauguration speech or sign any relevant executive orders for the industry.

The total crypto market volume over the last 24 hours stands at $313.74 billion, marking a 10.50% decrease.

Bitcoin (BTC) price today

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Trump’s pro-crypto promises, BTC is showing reliance, hovering around the $102,000 mark.

This comes after the coin hit its all-time on January 20 ahead of Trump’s inauguration.

The intraday range fluctuated between $100,103.96 and $109,114.88, showcasing the ongoing volatility.

BTC price currently trades 0.81% lower at $101,796.98. Trading volumes for the coin are up over 36% at $124.07 billion.

Bitcoin’s dominance is currently at 57.65%, reflecting an increase of 0.42% over the day.

Trading volume for the coin slipped over 23% to $48 billion.

The number of ETH whale addresses, or those holding at least 1,000 ETH, reached an 11-month high of 5,690 on January 15. However, this figure has since declined to 5,663.

XRP and SOL price today

XRP price was trading lower but managed to stay above the $3-mark.

XRP trades 0.72% lower at $3.08, with a 24-hour low of $3.05 and a high of $3.35.

Solana saw a decline of over 3%, trading at $236. Its price fluctuated between $232.40 and $272.15 during the day.

SOL has also garnered attention due to reports of users facing withdrawal issues from Coinbase, possibly linked to increased interest in the coin following Trump’s inauguration.

Meme coins struggle

The meme coin market saw notable declines, with Dogecoin (DOGE) dropping close to 6%, currently priced at $0.3425.

This downturn aligns with recent developments involving Elon Musk’s DOGE lawsuit, creating uncertainty for investors.
